Corset Progress

So, the theme for this year's Anime Weekend Atlanta formal ball is "Jewels of the Empire" and the fashion aesthetic is from the Rococo period. I decided to make all the underpinnings as well as the gown, so here we are... my first progress shot of the corset.

It needs to be lined, trimmed, and laced... but I like to think that the hard part is behind me. I have done something like 14 hours of work so far cutting fabric, transferring marks, planning out channels, sewing channels, and boning. Here's a fun fact--this bad boy has 25 yards of boning in it.

All that for something that no one will ever see. Sigh.

I still have the panniers (hoop skirt) pockets, and gown to do before I move on to my husband's outfit. >.<
