This here is the pride of my, well, not my life, but at least the past two years. I made that WHOLE THING, including the wig. This was my first real attempt at making a costume on my own, and well, I think it turned out well. Better than I thought it would, really.
That is absolutely amazing, especially for a first try! The wig has me knocked dead ~ I'm too afraid to try them, myself! That is just... I have no words! Awesome costume!

Well, your costumes are awesome! I can't sew to save the life of me, so I am impressed. The only real skill a Shiva wig takes is eternal patience. You don't have to cut it or curl it or even color it if you're happy with the stock colors (which I was), you just have to be good with glue! I would totally love to be able to actually SEW a costume rather than glue and paint my way through one.
You wouldn't believe it, but the ice-boob was the hard part. I made a plaster mold of my chest! I don't recommend trying THAT without someone there to help (like I did)! Plaster of paris hurts when removed from delicate skin.

I'm really suprised that you did that with stock colors, as well as glue! Just wow! If there is anything I can ever do to help you with sewing, like tips or whatnot, just let me know, I love (at least trying) to help others out!
I haven't gotten to do too much with molding yet, although I'm fearing taking a class on it, because we do have to do body molds... O___o;

Weeellll... The wig was stock colors from drlocks.net, silicon caulk, quilt batting, yarn, microfiber brown stuff, hairpins, and so much hairspray that I have my own personal hole in the ozone.
I'm still contemplating next year's costume. I have it narrowed down, but both go really far outside my comfort level. You'll probably see my whining or begging for help on some board or other!!!
THANKS!!! ^_^

I'm certain I can shape up in the time before the con in September, but that doesn't give me any time to *make* the costume. My boyfriend suggests that I should make the costume the size that I can acheive by then in a healthy manner, but that means a much more disciplined diet than I really want for myself!!! If I don't make the size I want, then I'll have to either *not* wear it (gasp) or do some alterations. I figure I can make Nuriko's robes in a manner that can be easily adjusted, but Fran's costume doesn't allow for as much adjustment!!!! ^_^

What do you have it narrowed down to, may I ask? I'm sure I can help, or direct you to people who can!
